As the Rangers recently competed for a playoff position but ultimately fell short, insiders Evan Grant and Shawn McFarland have engaged in extensive discussions and analyses concerning Seager’s future. They have consulted with key team executives and Seager himself to gather insight.
At 33 years old, Seager is a two-time World Series MVP with a decade of experience in Major League Baseball, including five seasons spent with the Rangers. He has a 10-year, $325 million contract with the team that extends through the 2031 season and includes a no-trade clause effective after this season. He is expected to earn $31 million in 2027. According to Grant, the Rangers will have approximately $15 million to allocate in this offseason amidst existing contract commitments.
