DALLAS – A Dallas police officer, Troy Allison, surrendered to authorities on Thursday after being charged with official oppression related to an incident that occurred in June.
Allison, who has been a member of the Dallas Police Department since April 2008 and is affiliated with the North Central Patrol Division, was booked into the Dallas County Jail. The charge stems from a June 4 episode wherein he allegedly assaulted a handcuffed suspect by striking him multiple times in the head with a closed fist. The incident reportedly took place following the suspect’s arrest and subsequent medical examination by Dallas Fire-Rescue. According to the arrest affidavit, Allison also inappropriately manipulated the suspect’s head for a photograph, causing him pain and breathing difficulties. Following these allegations, the Dallas Police Department has placed Allison on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
