Approximately 15 miles apart, McKinney and Frisco, two rapidly growing suburbs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, have been highlighted for their safety. According to the home security company Vivint, McKinney ranks second and Frisco fourth in its evaluation of the safest U.S. cities for new homeowners.
The Vivint analysis encompassed 93 U.S. cities, focusing on metrics such as property crime rates for 2025, the percentage of homeowners under 35, the proportion of recent movers, and the employment rates for security and fire alarm installers, with the property crime rate being the most significant factor. McKinney recorded 680 property crime incidents per 100,000 residents, while Frisco reported a rate of 789.4 incidents per 100,000 residents.
Both suburbs have previously performed well in safety rankings. In a 2025 SmartAsset report, McKinney was ranked ninth, and Frisco tenth for safety. Other North Texas cities in the Vivint rankings include Plano at 11th, Garland at 16th, and Dallas at 66th, among others. Port St. Lucie, Florida topped the Vivint list largely due to its leading property crime rate.
